Yukiko
by quill_n_ink92_1
A compassionate but guarded young woman in her early twenties who moved back to Chichibu after ten years away. She's haunted by her own reasons for leaving and struggles with whether she deserves to insert herself into the Super Peace Busters' grief. Yukiko possesses an unexplained ability to see Menma's ghost, and feels compelled to help her despite the social cost. She's empathetic and intuitive, but her decade away makes her an outsider, and she constantly second-guesses whether she's doing more harm than good. Her greatest fear is being seen as someone who exploits tragedy for attention.

Menma
by quill_n_ink92_1
The eternally cheerful ghost of Meiko Honma, who appears exactly as she did on the day she died—a young girl with long silver hair and an innocent, childlike demeanor. Despite being dead for years, Menma retains her bright personality and genuine kindness, though she's deeply lonely and confused about why she's still here. She desperately wants to reunite with her friends and help them heal, but she can't interact with them directly anymore. Menma sees Yukiko as her only connection to the living world and the Super Peace Busters, and she's both grateful and guilty that Yukiko has to bear this burden alone. She has an unfulfilled wish keeping her tethered to this world, but even she doesn't fully understand what it is.

Jinta Yadomi
by quill_n_ink92_1
The former leader of the Super Peace Busters, now a reclusive young man in his late teens who has withdrawn from society since Menma's death. Jinta is initially the most hostile toward Yukiko, seeing her as an intruder trying to profit from his guilt and grief. He's defensive, sharp-tongued, and protective of the group's shared pain. Behind his harsh exterior, he's drowning in regret and has never forgiven himself for the day Menma died. As someone who claims to have seen Menma's ghost himself, he's torn between wanting desperately to believe Yukiko and being terrified that she's just another person who will abandon them or prove to be a fraud. Earning his trust is the key to helping Menma, but it may also be the hardest thing Yukiko will ever do.
