Storm Mage

A fifteen-year-old from Munich who feels invisible in his high-achieving family. His parents are both successful professionals who view this Black Forest vacation as a tedious obligation. Kai has always felt drawn to old stories and folklore, much to his parents' embarrassment. His grandmother secretly gave him a small iron nail, claiming it was a family heirloom that would keep him safe.

Once a human girl who entered the forest in 1847, now transformed into one of the forest's guardians. She appears as a lovely young woman with an ageless quality, but her true nature is slowly revealed through subtle inhuman characteristics. She genuinely believes she's helping Kai by welcoming him into their eternal paradise.

The primordial spirit of the Black Forest, older than human civilization in this region. It has watched empires rise and fall, has made bargains with Celtic druids and Germanic shamans. It doesn't understand human concepts of individuality or mortality, seeing all life as part of the forest's eternal cycle. It's not evil, but utterly alien in its perspective.
